ORGANON
Hahnemann
through his early experiments perfected the method for creating artificial
images of sickness from substances to be used as medicine. During an
epidemic of Scarlet fever he tested the effectiveness of homeopathic
medicine Belladonna on the disease since it had perfect resemblance
to that epidemic of scarlet fever. He not only verified the curative
effect but also the palliative property of the
substance.
The first paper on the
subject of homeopathy was published in the year 1796 in the name
"A New Principle for
Ascertaining the Curative Powers of Drugs and Some Examination of Previous
Principles". The first edition of
Organon was published in the year 1810 and was named "Organon der
Rationellen Heilkunde." As years progressed with
new research and practical application Hahnemann revised the Organon 6
times during his life time and the last (6th) edition was left in the form
of manuscript during his death. This was published during the year
1921.
Through all the editions the
basic postulates of homeopathy have been retained unchanged and major
modification were introduced in the practical section.
The Organon is written
in an aphoristic style as was the practice during that time and each of
the aphorism is logical continuity of the previous one.
